The Denver Immersive Repertory Theater, also known as ‘DIRT’, is a live immersive performance and hospitality venue located at 1435 15th Street in downtown Denver, Colorado. 

The venue operates at the intersection of immersive theatre and curated guest experience, integrating live performance with hospitality environments including the Velour Room and Cabaret Lounge. While these spaces operate in coordination, each serves a distinct function within the overall experience. 

DIRT is both a performance environment and a working venue. Delivering the experience requires coordination across creative, operational, and guest experience teams. The integrity of each performance depends on professionalism, clear communication, and consistency in execution. 

DIRT engages performers working under Actors’ Equity Association agreements, non-union staff, and independent contractors, depending on the role and production requirements. The structure of engagement reflects both artistic and operational needs.

General Manager

The General Manager oversees the full show-night operation, ensuring stability across all areas of the experience, including performance, operations, and guest experience, with full ownership of show-night execution and outcomes. This role serves as the central point of coordination and the final decision-maker on guest flow, density thresholds, and any operational holds. Working closely with the Director of Production, the General Manager monitors system-wide operations, identifies risks to flow or safety, and intervenes as needed to maintain a controlled and consistent experience. This role maintains ultimate accountability for both operational performance and guest experience outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain oversight of the full show-night operation, ensuring alignment across Production, Operations, and Guest Experience teams 
  • Monitor overall guest flow, density, and system stability across all spaces (lobby, onboarding, immersive, cabaret) 
  • Serve as the final decision-maker on operational holds, pacing adjustments, and guest flow interventions 
  • Coordinate with the Director of Production when system pressure or breakdowns occur 
  • Own and oversee all guest experience operations through the Guest Experience Lead, ensuring alignment with overall system flow 
  • Identify early warning indicators (queue buildup, onboarding delays, density spikes) and take corrective action 
  • Reallocate staffing or adjust flow to stabilize operations during peak pressure moments 
  • Oversee key transition moments, including immersive intake, cabaret turnover, and post-show exit 
  • Lead post-show review of operational performance, including timing drift, density issues, and execution gaps 
  • Maintain overall accountability for the consistency, safety, and professionalism of the show-night experience 

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in live entertainment, hospitality, or venue operations with increasing responsibility 
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, real-time environments with multiple concurrent workflows 
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and making operational decisions under pressure 
  • Proven ability to manage guest-facing environments with a strong emphasis on flow, safety, and service 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong operational judgment and ability to make clear decisions in time-sensitive situations 
  • Systems thinking with the ability to understand how multiple functions interact in real time 
  • Leadership presence and ability to direct teams calmly and effectively under pressure 
  • High attention to detail with a focus on consistency, timing, and execution 
  • Clear communication skills across both operational and guest-facing teams 

Success Metrics

  • Consistent maintenance of guest flow, density, and timing across all phases of the experience 
  • Minimal operational disruptions, with issues identified early and resolved quickly 
  • Strong alignment across Production, Operations, and Guest Experience teams during live execution 
  • On-time immersive waves, stable cabaret turnover, and controlled exit flow 
  • Positive and consistent guest experience with minimal confusion or breakdowns 

Working logistics

DIRT operates six shows per week, Wednesday through Sunday, with a Saturday matinee and evening performance.  The General Manager is a full-time role responsible for both show-night execution and ongoing operational oversight. In addition to being present for all performances, this role includes responsibilities outside of show hours related to planning, staffing alignment, and continuous improvement of the operation.  On show days, the General Manager is expected to be present from approximately 5:30PM through post-show exit (typically 10:30–11:00PM), ensuring full oversight of pre-show preparation, guest arrival, performance execution, and exit flow. On Saturdays, the General Manager supports both the matinee and evening performances, including coordination and reset between shows. Additionally, on select weekends, there will be afterparties where staying until close at 12:00AM may be necessary.  Outside of show hours, responsibilities include reviewing performance data, identifying operational improvements, aligning staffing plans to projected demand, and coordinating with the Director of Production and the Guest Experience Lead to maintain a stable and consistent operating model
